Driving Gnome for Christmas – A Sector Connector and NT LIFE Collaboration

Driving Gnome for Christmas craft workshop with BT, EE, North Tyneside Council and NT LIFE

Sector Connector has coordinated a creative festive volunteering project that brought three organisations together in support of NT LIFE, North Tyneside’s Recovery College.

Volunteers from BT, EE and North Tyneside Council took part in micro-volunteering days designed to offer both practical help and positive wellbeing activities. Across three sessions, 17 staff from BT and EE and two members of staff from the council produced 58 handmade Driving Gnomes for Christmas.

The project provided a relaxed, friendly space where volunteers could switch off, get creative and contribute to a local wellbeing initiative. Many spoke about the impact of the sessions:

“Making the gonks helped to relax and ease the mind and forget about any worries or stresses that may have been there at the start of the morning.”

“Creating the gonks was very calming and fun to do; it takes you away from outside life and stresses.”

Feedback described the days as fun, calming and rewarding, with volunteers enjoying the chance to support a meaningful cause while learning new skills.

The collaboration is a strong example of how Sector Connector brings local businesses and community organisations together to make a positive difference.
